Hi,

A man is 26 years older than his son+highlight_green%28x%29.

and is also 8 years older than three times his son’s age. 

  x + 26 = 3x + 8

     18 = 2x

      x = 9, the son's age.  (Father is 35)  and 27 + 8 = 35 (checking)
