Write an equation for each statement
:
"Maria is twice he age of Jonas,"
m = 2j
:
" who is twice the age of Franklin.
j = 2f
:
"Franklin is 2yr less than half Maria's age."
f = .5m - 2
:
we know m = 2j and j = 2f, therefore m = 4f
replace m with 4f
f = .5(4f) - 2
f = 2f - 2
2 = 2f - f
f = 2 yrs is Franklin's ager
then
m = 4(2)
m = 8 yrs is Marie's age
and
j = 2(2)
j = 4 yrs is Jona's age
