You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let M be michells age and S be sarah's age. From the question we can make up two equations:
5S-10=M (1)
S%2BM=44 (2)
This is just a system of equations with two unknowns
Substituting (1) into (2) we get
S%2B%285S-10%29=44
6S-10=44
6S-10%2B10=44%2B10
6S=54
6S%2F6=54%2F6
S=9

Now substituting this value back into (1) we get:
5%289%29-10=M
45-10=M
M=35

So Michelle is 35 and Sarah is 9. Hopefully this helps:)

given
m=5s-10
m+s=44
substitution
5s-10+s=44
6s=54
s=9
substitution
m=45-10
m=35
m=michelle
s=sarah
