You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Micheal be x years now
Larry = 5x
after 12 years
Micheal x+5
Larry = 5x+12
5x+12=2(x+12)
5x+12=2x+24
3x=24-12
3x=12
x=4
Larry = 5x => 20 years

What is the current age of Larry? Larry is currently five times older than Michael. In twelve years, Larry will be twice as old as Michael.
-----
Equations:
L = 5M
(L+12) = 2(M+12)
----
Substitute for "L" and solve for "M":
5M+12 + 2M+24
3M = 12
M = 4 yrs old (Michael's age now)
---------
Solve for "L":
L = 5M
L = 5*4 = 20 yrs old (Larry's age now)

i love age wordproblems
I use the first letters of their names
Larry(L) is(=) currently five times(5*) older than Michael(M)
L=5%2AM
In twelv years(add 12 to both ages) Larry(L) will be(=) twice(2*) as old as Michael(M)
L%2B12=2%2A%28M%2B12%29
Now its a simple substitution problem
%285M%29%2B12=2M%2B24
3M%2B12=24
3M=12
highlight%28M=8%29
L=5%2A8
highlight%28L=40%29
