The sum of the ages of a father and son is 46 years. In 2 years, the son will be one-fourth as old as the father. What is the father's age now? 38ys. son is 8yrs. and in 2 years he will be 10ys. and the father will be 40yrs. which is 1/4 his fathers age.

Let x and (50-x) represent their ages in two years
