Let c = number of coffees sold
given:
(1) h+%2B+c+=+295
(2) .75h+%2B+.5c+=+200
Multiply both sides of (1) by .5
and subtract from (2)
.75h+%2B+.5c+=+200
-+.5h+-+.5c+=+-+147.5
.25h+=+52.5
h+=+210
and, since
h+%2B+c+=+295
c+=+295+-+210
c+=+85
They sold 210 hot chocolates and 85 coffees
check:
(2) .75h+%2B+.5c+=+200
(2) .75%2A210+%2B+.5%2A85+=+200
157.5+%2B+42.5+=+200
200+=+200
