Question 18536: I am asking this question from memory (Hope it makes sense), ok here it goes:
Shop A has 5 more tools than shop B. Shop B has 3 more tools than shop C. How many tools does shop A have?
Can this be solved, or am I missing something(s)?
Thanks!
Answer by askmemath(368) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let shop C have X tools
Then by the problem ShopB has X+3 tools
ShopA has (X+3)+5 tools
Now, unless I know how many tools shopC has I cannot say how many tools shopA has.
Alternately, if I knew the sum of the tools of the 3 shops, then I could get the answer.
Please try to remember what you have missed!!!
