You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let A=current age
Let D=daughter's current age
"9 years ago i was 15 times as old as my daughter"
A - 9 = 15(D-9)
A - 9 = 15D - 135
A = 15D -126
"Now I am 6 times as old as she is."
A = 6D
Since A = 6D, we can substitute that into A = 15D -126 giving the expression
6D = 15D - 126
Solve for D
9D = 126
D = 14
And since A = 6D, solve for A
A = 6*14
A = 84
You can put this solution on YOUR website! let the ages of the ****star***and her daughter be s and d respectivel
:
s-9=15(d-9).....eq 1
s=6d............eq 2
:
take s's value from eq 2 which is 9d and plug that into every occurence of s in eq 1
:
6d-9=15(d-9)
:
6d-9=15d-135.........distributed right side
:
-9d=-126.............subtracted 15d and added 9 to both sides
