You can put this solution on YOUR website!
if paul's age is p and fathers age is f
:f=33 and p=12 let x be the number of years ago the father was 4 times older than the son
:
f-x=4(p-x)
33-x=4(12-x)
:
33-x=48-4x
:
3x=15

Paul is 12 and his father is 33. How many years ago was the father four times as old as the son?
-----------------------------------
NOW DATA:
Paul = 12
Father = 33
-----------------------
x years ago DATA:
Paul = 12-x
Father = 33-x
-----------------------
EQUATION:
father = 4*paul
33-x = 4(12-x)
33-x = 48 - 4x
3x = 15
x = 5 (# of years ago)
