Then the movie star's age now is 5x, according to the problem.

Write an equation for their ages 6 years ago
5x-6 = 11*(x-6).

5x - 6 = 11x - 66
66 - 6 = 11x - 5x
60 = 6x
x = 60/6 = 10.
Thus, the daughter's age now is 10 years; hence, the movie star is 5*10 = 50 years old now.
