The difference between her age now and the age she will be when she is 4 times as old as she is now is 3 times as old as she is now. (Algebraically, if you want, the difference between 4x and x is 3x.)

She will be 4 times as old as she is now 42 years from now.

So 3 times as old as she is now is 42 years.

So her age now is 42/3 = 14 years.
