You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
Sandy is twice as old as Candy, and Dandy is nine years older than Candy.
Three years ago, Sandy was nine less than three times Candy's age. How old highlight%28cross%28is%29%29 was Dandy 3 years ago?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let x be the Candy's age.
Then the Sandy's age is 2x years.
Three years ago
    Sandy was  2x-3 years old,  and
    Candy was (x-3) years old.
The condition says that
    2x-3 = 3(x-3) - 9    ("Three years ago,  sandy was nine less than three times candy's age")
Simplify and solve
    2x - 3 = 3x - 18
    18 - 3 = 3x - 2x
     x     = 15.
Thus the Candy's age is 15 years now.
Dandy is nine years older than Candy, so Dandy is 15+9 = 24 years old now.
3 years ago, Dandy was 24-3 = 21 years old.    ANSWER
Solved.
