H=S%2B12......eq.1

The sum of their ages is 80.
H%2BS=80......eq.2

substitute H from eq.1

S%2B12%2BS=80......eq.2
2S=80-12
2S=68
S=34

go to H=S%2B12......eq.1, substitute S
H=34%2B12
H=46


Mr H is 46 years old, and Mrs S is 34 years old
