:
duncan is 4 times older than tracey
d = 4t
and tracey is 5 years older than lewis
t = L + 5
what is there ages

You can see there is no way to solve this, you have 3 unknowns and only two equations!
But
You can assume that d is a multiple of 4, and t has to be greater than 5
let's say t=6
then d=24
and L=1
Tracy's 6, Duncan is 24, and Lewis is 1, is a possibility
