Let Bryce's age = x; Darrel's age = 8+x

8x%2Bx%5E2=153
x%5E2%2B8x-153=0
%28x-9%29%28x%2B17%29=0
x=9 or x=-17

Age must be a positive number. So x = 9.
Bryce = 9 years old.
Darrel = 17 years old.
