.
40 and 60 years.

If you need a formal solution to support this totally obvious answer, here it is in couple of lines.

    Let x be the Jamal age, then Charles' age is 1.5x years.  The total of their ages is x + 1.5x = 2.5x, and it is equal to 100;

    hence,  x = 100/2.5 = 40.

Charles and Jamal are joking about their age and they figure out their combined
ages is Grandma's age.
C%2BJ+=+G

If Charles is one and a half times Jamal's age
C+=+%281%261%2F2%29%2AJ change the mixed fraction to an
improper fraction:

C+=+%283%2F2%29%2AJ

and grandma is a hundred years old
G=100

Substitute 100 for G in C%2BJ=G

C%2BJ=100

what are Charles and Jamal's age
Solve for J:

J=100-C

Substitute (100-C) for J in

C+=+%283%2F2%29%2AJ

C+=+%283%2F2%29%2A%28100-C%29

Multiply both sides by 2 to clear the fraction:

2C+=+3%2A%28100-C%29

2C+=+300-3C

5C+=+300

C+=+300%2F5

C+=+60

Substitute 60 for C in

C%2BJ+=+100

60%2BJ+=+100

J+=+40
