You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
From the condition, the father is 36-12 = 24 years older than Jodi.

Hence, when the father age will be 24*2 = 48, he will be twice Jodi's age.

It will happen in 48-36 = 12 years.

Check. In 12 years father will be 36+12 = 48 years old; Jodi will be 12+12 = 24 years old.

           48%2F24 = 2.   ! Correct !

The formal algebra solution is THIS.

Let x be the number of years under the question. Then

36+x = 2*(12+x)  ====>

36 + x = 2*12 + 2x

36 + x = 24 + 2x

36 - 24 = 2x - x  ====>  x = 12   <<<---=== the same answer.

Solved (two times).
