Using algebra on this problem is "overkill".

If you need to use algebra, then the solution from the other tutor is fine. But the problem is far more easily solved informally, using common sense.

(1) The man is 38 and his daughter is 14; the difference in their ages is 24 years.
(2) He will be twice as old as his daughter when she is 24 and he is 48.
(3) Since he is now 38, that will be in (48-38)=10 years from now.
