I guess if you MULTIPLY a dog's age by 7 to get a human age, then you must DIVIDE a human's age by 7 to get a dog's age. So, I would say, divide the human age of 42 by 7 and get 6 dog years!!

You multiply your dog's age by 7 to get 56 so you would need to divide your father's age (42) by 7 to get his age if he were a dog. So, 42 divided by 7 would be 6 years old.
