You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1.B=S%2B4
Five years ago,
%28B-5%29%2B%28S-5%29=48
B%2BS-10=48
B%2BS=58
From eq. 1,
B-S=4
Add the two equations,
B%2BS%2BB-S=58%2B4
2B=62
B=31
So,
31=S%2B4
S=27

brian is 4 years older than sam five years ago the sum of there ages was 48 how old are they now
-----------------
B = S + 4
B-5 + S-5 = 48
----------------------------
Substitute for "B" and solve for "S:
S+4-5 + S-5 = 48
--------------------
2S - 6 = 48
2S = 54
Sam's age = 27 yrs
Brian = S+4 = 31 yrs
-------------
