The ages of three sisters are consecutive odd integers. The sum of the youngest and oldest sister is twenty less than six times the middle sister. How old is each sister?
Let the youngest's age be Y
Then middle sister's age = Y + 2, and oldest's, Y + 4
We then get: Y + Y + 4 = 6(Y + 2) - 20
2Y + 4 = 6Y + 12 - 20
2Y + 4 = 6Y - 8
2Y - 6Y = - 8 - 4
- 4Y = - 12
Y, or youngest's age = %28-+12%29%2F%28-+4%29, or highlight_green%283%29
Middle sister's age: 3 + 2, or highlight_green%285%29
Oldest sister's age: 3 + 4, or highlight_green%287%29
It's that simple....nothing complex, at all!
