Question 1046474: Hey,i just need help on a word problem: Cleve is three more than six times as old as his son Rob. If seven times Rob's present age is subtracted from the product of their present ages, the result is 418 less than the product of their ages five years from now. Find each of their present ages. I've come up with c=3+6r and (3+6r)(r)-7r=(8+6r)(5+r)-418, but I don't know if their right, and if they are, I don't know what to do after. Thanks in advance!

Hey,

this phrase in your post

"Cleve is three more than six times as old as his son Rob"

doesn't make sense.
