let Allison age be x
from your question,
mia=2x
4 years from now,
Allison=x+4
mia=2x+4
but the sum of their ages will be 23,i.e
(x+4)+(2x+4)=23
3x+8=23
3x=23-8
3x=21
x=7
mia's age=2*7
