Question 103599: I've been on this problem for almost 2 hours and I'm getting more and more frustrated.
Solve each of the following systems by substitution
28.
4x - 12y = 5
-x + 3y = -1
This is one of the answers I got, but none of my answers are right when I try to check them
y = -x - (-1)/3
y = -x +1/3
4x - 12(-x +1/3) = 5
4x + 12x (-12)/3 = 5
16x - 12x / 3 = 5
4x/ 3= 5
4x = 5(3)
x = 15/4
x = 3.75
What am I missing??? Please advise...
Thank you Rev. B
