Soft Drink Taste Test A soft drink company wishes to introduce a new soft drink. The company is considering two flavors, lemon lime and cherry cola. In a sample of 125 people, it was found that
• 80 liked lemon lime.
• 68 liked cherry cola.
• 42 liked both types
c) How many liked either one or the other or both?
d) How many did not like either flavor?

Draw a rectangle.

Draw two circles that partially overlap fully within the rectangle.

Label one of the circles LL and the other CC.

Write the number 42 in the space where the two circles overlap.

Subtract 42 from 80 and write the result in the part of the LL circle that does not overlap the other circle.

Subtract 42 from 68 and write the result in the part of the CC circle that does not overlap the other circle.

Add the three numbers in your diagram. This is the answer to part C.

Subtract the answer to part C from 125. This is the answer to part D.
