Adding and subtracting fractions

Example: 2%2F3%2B3%2F4=8%2F12%2B9%2F12=17%2F12=1%265%2F12

Adding and subtracting fractions is harder tham multiplying them. That's because you cannot just add fractions with different denominators. You cannot write something like 1%2F2%2B2%2F3+=+%281%2B2%29%2F%282%2B3%29

So instead of reducing fractions (see another slide of this lesson), you have to first "un-reduce" them to make sure that they have a common denominator.
