Fractions are nothing more than one integer number divided by
another. Fractions are used by people because they are often the easiest
way to represent some quantity. For instance, it is easy to say "
of students in our high school are smart". It
would be awkward to say "0.666666666666 of students in our high school
are smart".
The top number in the fraction is called numerator, and the
bottom number is called denominator.
