Let x = first integer, x+1 is the next consecutive integer

x*(x+1) = 56

x^2 + x = 56

x^2 + x - 56 = 0

(x+8)(x-7) = 0

x+8 = 0 or x-7 = 0

x = -8 or x = 7

So the two integers are

7 and 8

OR

-8 and -7
