You can put this solution on YOUR website! 10+(-4) = 6
Why? If you gain $10, then lose $4 you end up with $6
--------------------------------------------------------
-2(-6) = 12
Why? You twice did the opposite of losing $6; you end up with $12
--------------------------------------------------------
-7+7 = 0
Why? You lost $7, then you gained $7; you ended up even at zero.
-----
-0.25-4 = -4.25
Why?
You lost 25 cents; then you lost $4; you ended up $4.25 in the hole.
-----------------
-5+23 = 18
Why? You lost 5 then gained 23
------------------
-15+(-9) = - 24
Why You lost 15, then lost 9
-----------------------------------

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Here are the rules. If you see TWO signs next to each other, use the following rules to change both to a single sign:
+ + replace with +
+ - replace with -
- + replace with -
- - replace with +
.
Same thing when MULTIPLYING:
+ + is a +
+ - is a -
- + is a -
- - is a +
.
Looking at your problems:
10+(-4)
I see a + - together -- replace with a -
10-4
= 6
.
-2(-6)
Multiplying - and - becomes a +
= 12
.
-7+7 = 0
.
-0.25-4= -4.25
.
-5+23 = 18
.
-15+(-9)
Replace + - with a -
-15-9 = -24
