Question 96325: The word problem reads as follows: An event coordinator for a theater has requested information about projected ticket sales. you provide him with a quadratic equation that models the expected number of ticket sales for each day x. (x=1 is the day tickets go on sale). Tickets =-0.2x^2+12x+11.
A. does the graph of the equation open or down and how this is determined?
b. What happens to ticket sales as time passes?
c. use the equation to determine the last day that tickets will be sold.
I am very confused on how to work this problem out. Thank you for nay help you can provide.

Question 97426: The problem is -4x^2+8x=0. So far I've done -4x^2+8x+7=0, 4x^2-8x-7=0 then I squared half of the coefficient of x and added to both sides and got 4x^2-8x+16=9 but I can't figure out how to get a perfect square. Did I do something wrong in the first steps?

(30-x)(20-x)=400
600-30x-20x+x^2=400
x^2-50x+600=400

x^2-50x+200=0
I then tried the quadratic equation with a=1, b=-50, c=200 and ended up with x=25 +- 5 radical 17

Find both possible solutions and determine the equilibrium price
This is what I have so far:
-5p+40=-p^2+30p-8
p^2-35p+48=0
p^2-36p=-48 I am now unsure of what to do from here.
