Question 666466: This section is about the square root property and completing the square.
x^2-6x+9=36
I actually don't really know what to do. I tried completing the square and that gave me (x-3)(x-3)=36, then I got stuck.
I also tried subtracting 36 to make the original equation equal zero, and that left me with x^2-6x-27=0, and I got stuck again. What should I do?

I did this
20= -0.5x^2+4x+19
-20 -20
=-0.5x^2+4x-1
I then used quadratic formula
x= -4+/-sqrt 4^2-4(-0.5)(-1)
-2(-0.5)
which gave me -4+/-sqrt14
-1
I don't know if I'm doing it right or how to get the year(s) for that either.

Question 668845: Fred wants to construct a rectangular chook pen, using a barn for one of the sides (length). the other sides will be constructed using only 80 metres of chicken wire. How long and how wide should the pen be to enclose as much land as possible (write an algebraic function that will determine the area of the pen in terms of its width and use it to find the answer).
I have currently worked out that the three sides will equal;
width (x2)= 20m
length (x1)= 40m
area= 800m^2
