You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How can I solve for the value(s) of the variable of 2s^2-98=0?
Either of two ways:

First way:

2s%5E2-98%22%22=%22%22%220%22

Divide both sides by 2:

s%5E2-49%22%22=%22%22%220%22

Factor the left side as the difference of squares:

%28s-7%29%28s%2B7%29%22%22=%22%22%220%22

Use the zero-factor principle:

s-7%22%22=%22%22%220%22; s%2B7%22%22=%22%22%220%22
  s%22%22=%22%227;    s%22%22=%22%22-7;

----------------

Second way:

2s%5E2-98%22%22=%22%22%220%22

Add +98 to both sides:

2s%5E2%22%22=%22%2298

Divide both sides by 2:

s%5E2%22%22=%22%2249

Use the principle of square roots:

s%22%22=%22%22%22%22+%2B-+sqrt%2849%29

s%22%22=%22%22%22%22+%2B-+7

Either way, the values of the variable s are 7 and -7.
