Question 768874: Hi to everyone.... I've few questions to ask, first one is
"Can we say the elliptic equation, hyperbolic and parabolic equations as quadratic equation?"
"In a general quadratic equation, the constants a,b and c are real or complex?"
"In the word "Quadratic", Quad means four but quadratic equation deals with highest degree 2, So why its name is quadratic?"
Pliz reply all the questions ASAP...

You can put this solution on YOUR website! "Can we say the elliptic equation, hyperbolic and parabolic equations as quadratic equation?"
Ans: Parabolic of the form y = ax^2 + bx + c are quadratic if "a" is not zero.
elliptic and hyperbolic are not functions.

Although in Latin the prefix "quadri" means four, the word "quadrus"
means a square (because it has four sides) and "quadratus" means
"squared." We get several other words from this: "quadrille," meaning
a square dance; "quadrature," meaning constructing a square of a
certain area; and even "square" (through French).
