You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I am having a very hard time with these quadratic equations. Can someone help me understand this one and how to solve?
(1) 4x^2 + 14x = 0
2x(2x+7) = 0
2x = 0 or 2x+7 = 0
x = 0 or x = -7/2

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4x%5E2+%2B+14x+=+0
Dividing both sides by 2:
2x%5E2+%2B+7x+=+0
Factor out what is common (x):
%28x%29%282x+%2B+7%29+=+0
.
Set EACH term within parentheses to zero to find the possible values of x:
x = 0 (one possible solution)
.
2x+7 = 0
2x = -7
x = -7/2 (another possible solution)
.
therefore:
x = {-7/2, 0} (solution set)
