solution set of the equation 

+y=+2%2B+sqrt%28y%5E2-12%29+

+y+-2+=+sqrt%28y%5E2-12%29+

squaring both sides

(y-2)^2 = y^2 - 12

y^2 - 4y + 4 = y^2 - 12

-4y = -16

y = -16/-4 = 4
