Looking out on the balcony of a cabin I see a lake were I can go fishing. My cabin balcony is on the 3rd floor. Using formula d=√[3h/2]. I want to find how far away the lake is from my cabin. I say I am about 36 feet up.

The word story = floors of a building.
There are 10.6 feet per story.
So, in 3 floors, there are 32 feet.
Let h = 32 in your equation and simplify.
Can you take it from here?
