You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Consider the function f(x)=x^2-6x+2
Find h, the x-coordinate of the vertex of this parabola, show the work
------------------
There are at least two ways to find the vertex:
1st Way:
x = -b/2a = 6/2 = 3
y = f(3) = 9-18+2 = -7
------------------------
2nd way:
x^2-6x = y - 2
Complete the square to get:
x^2-6x+9 = y + 7
(y-3)^2 = y+7
h = 3 ; k = -7
===================
Substitute the two integers
immediately to the left of h and the two integers immediately to the right of h
into the function to find the corresponding y. Fill in the following table.
Make sure your x-values are in increasing order in your table
----
Let x = 1, then y = 1^2-6*1+2 = -3
Let x = 2, then y = 2^2-6*2+2 = -6
Let x = 4, then y = 4^2-6*4+2 = -6
Let x = 5, then y = 5^2-6*5+2 = -3
