You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The diagonal of a TV is the hypotenuse of the right triangle formed where the height and width of the screen are the legs of the right triangle.

D%5E2+=+H%5E2+%2B+W%5E2+

If the Diagonal = 10 in, and the width is 8 inches, then find the height.
10%5E2+=H%5E2%2B8%5E2
100=H%5E2%2B64
36=H%5E2, where H must be positive
H=6 inches

SOLUTION -
Diagonal of a tv = 10inc
Width of the tv = 8inc
Height of the tv be x inc
then by phytagoras theorem we have
%28hypotenuse%29%5E2=%28base%29%5E2+%28height%29%5E2
10%5E2=8%5E2%2Bx%5E2
100=64+x%5E2
100-64=64-64+x%5E2
36=x%5E2
sqrt%2836%29=x
6=x
therefore the width of the tv is 6 inc
