Question 1114812: A company has determined that when x hundred dulcimers are built, the average cost per dulcimer can be estimated by C(x)=0.2x(squared)−2.6x+9.950, where C(x) is in hundreds of dollars. What is the minimum average cost per dulcimer and how many dulcimers should be built to achieve that minimum?
The minimum average cost per dulcimer is $______. I have gotten this wrong twice and I only have one more try tonight :( There will be another question pop up on the screen after this one, but I am still stuck on this one.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

The function is quadratic; the minimum value is when x+=+-b%2F%282a%29+=+2.6%2F0.4+=+6.5.

Then just plug that number into the function to find the minimum average cost....

Are you remembering when entering your answer that x is in hundreds? So the number of dulcimers for the minimum average cost is 650, not 6.5....

And likewise, the minimum average cost is in hundreds of dollars....
