2. Rational numbers:
3. Irrational numbers:
This is what I got so far not sure if its right.
1. Integers:
x^2+3x-8=0
2. Rational numbers:
1/2x^2 + 4/5x -9/13=0
3Irrational numbers:
I don't know what to put here?
As you can see I am trying to write these equation, but I been out of school for 12 years and I not sure if what I have is right.

Question 153988: Question: By increasing her usual speed by 25 kilometers per hour, a bus driver decreases the time on a 25 kilometer trip by 10 minutes. Find the usual speed.
If I set up the problem as:
25/x+25 = 25/x - 1/6
I get two seperate answers and it all depends on how I do the LCD.
the LCD which is 6x(x+25) and multiply that out I get
25(6x) = 6(x+25)(25) + x(x+25)
150x = 6x + 150 + 150 - x^2 - 25x combine like terms and I get
x^2 + 169x - 300 = 0
I can't seem to factor that one out.
the second problem:
25(6x) = 25(x+25)(6) - x(x+25)(x)
150x = 25x + 625 + 150 - x - 125 -x
150x = 23x + 650 + x^2
x^2 + 127x -650 = 0
What I am asking help on is if I even have a general idea of what to do. I am stuck at factoring them both out and unfortunatly this question is an even number so there is no solution in the manual or answer in the back of the book.
Thanks for any help :)

Question 154198: this is not in a text book
400(x-1)^2=225
this is what I have
400x^2-800x+175=0
my instructions are solve for x
x= -(-800) +/- sqrt[(-800)^2 - 4(400*175)]/2(400)
x= [800+/- sqrt(640000-280000)] / 800
x= (800 +/- sqrt 360,000) /800
x= (800 +/- 1.000000001)/800
is it right up to this point? where do we go from here?

Question 154374: Hi,
I tried to solve the following problem and this is what I got can someone tell me if its right?
1. 3^1/2(y)^2-4y-(3)^1/2=0
Which is our graphical form 3^1/2y^2-4y-(7(3)^1/2=0
simplifies to 3/2y^2-4*y-21/2=0
Explanation:
Look at 3^1/2y^2-4y-(7(3)^1/2=0
Replace constants in factor: 3 ,1 with 3
It becomes 3/ 2*y^2 -4y 7*3^1/2=0
Look at 3/ 2*y^2 -4y 7*3^1/2=0.
Replace constants in factor: {3},1 with 3
It becomes: 3/2*y^2 -4y -7*3/2 =0
Look at: 3 /2*y^2 -4y -7*3/2 =0
Multiplied numerator integers 7*3 to get 21
It becomes 3 /2*y^2 -4y -21/2 =0
Result: 3 / 2*y^2 -4y -21/2=0
Again, I sorry for the trouble I am causing thank you so much for your help.
