Question 982479: Can someone please help me with my homework? Thanks :D
1.What if I have +√3 and -√3 as the roots. What is the equation?
2. Graph the equation in a sign graph: x^2+8x-7=0
In question no. 2, I find the roots of it first. Since it's not a perfect square trinomial, and 8 is an even number, I used completing the square.
x^2+8x=7
x^2+8x+(8/2)^2=7+(8/2)^2
x^2+8x+16=23
x^2+8x+16-23=0
x^2+8x-7=0
But i ended up returning to the original equation :/

2x+5y+z=1
a. converting the augmented matrix into row-echelon form gives:
1 4 2 5
0 1 1 3
0 0 0 0
b. since the 3rd row corresponds to an equation which is always true, we use the first 2 rows to solve for two of the variables in terms of the third. the first two rows correspond to the equation x+4y+2z=5 and y+____=____
c. solving the second equation for y gives: y=3-z

Question 982907: I know that this is a long question but all the question have something to do with one another.
In 2005, some data was taken on the number of women in certain age groups who gave birth.
Table:
Age of Women 22 27 32
Number of women per
1000 who gave birth 102 116 96
(a) Determine f(x)=a(x-h)^2+k so that f models this data. (NOT 2 ax^2 bx+c )
(Use trial and error, and find values of a, h, and k to the tenths place to guarantee that your graph comes close enough to “go through” all 3 points on the table when on “ZOOM STAT”[as boxes in the TI-83/84].)
My answer:f(x)=-0.68(x-26.56)^2+116.1323
(b) Estimate the number of women per 1000 who give birth at age 35 according to your model.
My answer:67
(c) Where does it look like f(x)=0? (You will likely need to expand your window, especially since you used “ZoomStat”.)
My answer: I am not sure
What does this mean? Do you believe this? Is f(x)a perfect model of what really happens?
My answer: I am not sure
