Question 44696: I am having trouble with this problem I have gotten about half way through and can not figure out the rest.
Use the quadratic formula to solve each equation.
900x^2 - 8,100x = 1,800
This is what I have come up with so far, Maybe I am making a mistake that I am overlooking.
900x^2/90 - 8,100x/90 = 1,800/90

My answer is no where even close to what the book says it should be. I am in desperate need of help with these types of problems. My book says the answer should be (3 + sqrt(29))/2 or (3 - sqrt(29))/2

The answer in my book for this problem is (-5 + sqrt17)/2 or (-5 - sqrt17)/2
I am having trouble figuring out how to get this answer. This was my latest attempt to it.

Take a number.
Add 1.
Square the result.
Then subtract from it the product of the original number times two more than the original number.
What did you get?
Will it always be 1.
