I figured out the solutions (x= -2, 3) by solving by factoring but when I try and do it by solving by the quadratic formula, I keep getting stuck. Can you please explain the steps to solve the problem using the quadratic formaula?

The question says: Write an equation to find the value of x so that each pair of polygons has the same perimeter. Then solve.
1. A triangle has sides that say: x+6, x+9, and x+3. A rectangle beside it has sides that say x+4 and x+1.
2. A hexagon has sides that all read 5x. A triangle next to it has sides that say x+14, x+17, and 8x+9.

Obtain the Maclaurin series expansion about the point 0 for the function ln(x + 1) as
ln(x + 1) = x -x^2/2+x^3/3 - ...+ (-1)^n+1 x^n/n+ ... 

Note that we cannot find a Maclaurin expansion of the function ln x since ln x does not exist at x = 0 and so cannot be differentiated at x = 0.
