slope is -%285%2F3%29

3x-5y=8
-5y=-3x%2B8
highlight%28y=%283%2F5%29x%2B8%29
slope is 3%2F5

Find the product of the two slopes:
highlight_green%28-%285%2F3%29%283%2F5%29=-1%29
and you can plainly see the slopes are negative reciprocals of each other.
This means the two lines are PERPENDICULAR.
