2y%5E2-7y-30=0
using quadratic formula: y=%287%2B-sqrt%28289%29%29%2F4 or y=%287%2B-17%29%2F4
so y=6 and y=-%285%2F2%29
since x=y%5E2;
then x=36 and x=25%2F4

you should note that for the x=25%2F4 value, it is the negative square root that satisfies the equation
