A web developer is creating a Web site. the Site will have frams along the top and left sides. These frames will take up one third of the computer screen. What will the width x of the frames be on the screen shown
_____________
|_|x__________|
|x|

|_|___________|
Screen is 11in X 7in need to solve for x
I think the equation for this is
11x+7x-x^2=77/3
-3x^2+54x-77=0
3x^2-54x+77=0
If this is correct then I think the best way to answer this is by using the quadratic formula to solve it. This question is from textbook
You can put this solution on YOUR website! You are correct so far. When you use the quadratic formula you get two answers. One of those makes no sense in the context of this problem but the other one (between 1 and 2 inches ) works nicely.
