simplify
2x-8-x-2-x%5E2%2B2x%2B8=0

-x%5E2%2Bx-2=0
x%5E2-x%2B2=0
x%5E2-x-x%2B2=0
x%28x-1%29-1%28x-2%29=0
(x-1)(x-2)=0
so x= 1 OR 2
