Question 613847: City officials are putting up a rectangular garden around a memorial site with the length of (4x+7) and a width of (3x+5)
Part A: Determine the area of the memorial site in terms of x. Write your
answer as a trinomial and include units. Show or explain your work.
Part B: The outside edges of the garden form a rectangle whose length and
width are proportional to the sides of the memorial site, increased
by a scale factor of 3. Determine the lengths of the outside edges of
the garden. Write your answer in simplest form.
Part C: Determine the area of the garden in terms of x. Write your answer in
simplest form. Show or explain your work.
I understood part a and b , however, when I looked up the answer to see if I was correct for part C, it gave me a totally different answer. Would you please help me understand how to do part C?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! B gives the overall outer dimensions of the garden/memorial
___ use the dimensions to find the total area; then subtract the area of the memorial (from part a)
the problem describes a garden AROUND a memorial
___ part C asks for the area of the GARDEN
___ part B finds the outer dimensions of the garden AND memorial
