x/2 + 5x/10 = -2
10 is the LCD for the denominators on the left side.
Multiplying both the sides of the equation by 10 we get..
(x/2)*10 + (5x/10)*10 = (-2)*(10)
==> 5x + 5x = -20
==> 10x = -20
==> 10x/10 = -20/10
==> x = -2
