the x-intercept is "where does the curve cross the x-axis?"...this is where y=0. So put y=0 into the equation and find the x-value(s) that satisfy that.
the y-intercept is "where does the curve cross the y-axis?"...this is where x=0. So put x=0 into the equation and find the y-value that satisfies that.
